Easter crafts to come

Besides eating bag after bag of starburst jellybeans, not a whole lot of Easter happenings have been going on around here. I did buy these cute Easter buckets for 5 dollars at target today and used my silhouette to cut out the girls names in vinyl.

Last year Ella and I silk-dyed eggs using ties and Kristen made paper mache eggs.  I have seen so many cute Easter crafts on pinterest that I hope to do next week.

These are definitely a "during McKenna's nap" kind of craft but look like so much fun!

Maybe Ella would actually eat her lunch if I did this.

I think I will try the kool-aid method for dying eggs this year.

I do love stripes.

I can't wait to do this someday! What a fun adult egg party idea!

Who says Easter egg hunting has to stop when the sun goes down?! Glow in the dark Easter eggs! Genius.

I will leave you with this classic Easter bunny picture.

belated last week catch up

First of all, how cute is Sassy's new haircut?! I just love it! We had so much fun seeing everyone this last weekend at Kinleys' Puppy Party!

The ice cream truck is officially gone.
IMG_1353
Bob cut it to pieces and in the dumpster it went. I wish I could have kept it up forever but a life sized ice cream truck parked in my living room was bound to get in the way. If it hadn't been built in that room and would have fit out the door I would have loved to pass it down to someone but there was no going around it, it had to be torn apart:(
IMG_4103
These stuffed ice cream cones were in the truck for kids to play with during the party. I bought them at Walgreens and they were actually dog toys so Dignan has officially claimed them as his own.

My freezer is still stocked full with left over popsicles and we haven't been afraid to eat them all day, everyday.

Bob's schedule has been all over the place this month. He has had to work a lot of nights so Ella and I have had a lot of movie watching sleepovers on the couch bed/fort that she loves to make:)

Nachos is a favorite late night snack in our house. The secret family recipe is to sprinkle some lemon pepper over the cheese before you put them in the oven.

The upside to Bob working nights is post call days. It is always nice to have him home during a weekday and the weather has been picnic in the park beautiful!

Looks like somebody is way past due for a Ponytail Party!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Last week catch up

IMG_1703
Ya'll have got to run over and see lindsay's puppy party! It was such a blast and she did such a great job putting everything together-all while looking like a hot model in her red lipstick!! We got to see al and ella and kenna and bob, as well as so many friends and just loved it.
IMG_1698
I made these shirts yesterday before and they aren't my best, maybe a little off on color combo, but they fit the bill for the cutest puppy party ever!
More on that mullet-
last week while I was running Sassy decided to cut her own hair.  I am obviously not opposed to change or trying to do it yourself with hair, but I think she went a little far back with the scissors while trying for bangs and landed herself a party in the front and business in the back kind of look.
So, I took her where I took aves when she was twirling her hair and pulling it out.
IMG_1668
Real fancy place- great clips or something like that.  Sassy would not relax at all so her shoulders were up the entire time.
IMG_1670
Needless to say, it is not the most even cut, but its better than her own devices.
IMG_1671
And she got a sucker.  Love it.
IMG_1682
Avery was the type that was sad she had to cut it and was sad when it ended up shorter than we had wanted, but kind of knew it was over and she was stuck with it, so she never complains.  I prayed over her before she went to school because I was so nervous it was too short and some kids might make fun of her and got so sad that I had made her do it. I was a mess.  Everytime I tried to talk to her about it she would just shrug it off and change the subject (which kind of broke my heart more!).  Sassy, on the other hand, is telling everyone she got her hair cut and that she loves it and telling me its so soft, or, she is laying down on the ground (in the middle of the parking lot while cars are driving by swerving around us) saying she wants it long and doesn't like it and cant function like this anymore.  Drama.  I guess you've got to have one that is holding her emotions in so that the other one can bring the fun...
We also got isla a little doll chair at an antique store and painted it for her.  They couldn't wait for her to have it.

We also found a little doll bed and dresser for kinley that I didn't get all the way finished with the drawer pulls, but they loved making it for her too.
IMG_1653
How cute is that little mirror?? and it had barbie clothes still in it!
IMG_1656
Then Aves had a dance program at her school that was literally the best thing I have ever seen.  It was like a mini broadway!  It was new york themed and they had mini songs from broadway shows, NY songs, firemen and policemen outfits and songs as well as a newsies song.  Newsies is my absolute favorite movie and I just was beside myself when it came on.  Sassy and I could not stop smiling at the cute little kids in their homemade outfits trying to keep the beat and singing! ahhh! Avery's class theme was the Macy's Thanksgiving parade and her "float" was mickey mouse so she sang the M-I-C-K-E-Y song with her mouse ears and was so cute.  Just love an elementary school program!
Hope y'all had a great last week too!
More to come on our fun weekend with my cousins too...

Golden Blocks

BAR_5319
I saw some golden blocks on-you guessed it-pinterest, and wanted to copy them for isla grace (whose party was amazing.  go check it out right here).
I have done blocks before, but I wanted to try these because they seemed more modern and streamlined.  and gold! how fun is gold?!
BAR_5300
Welp.  They turned out kind of ghetto, but Im gonna tell you how to do them anyway (check out that a. sigh).
BAR_5304
I got some stickers, gold martha paint and blocks at hob lob.  I put the stickers on (definitely the thicker ones worked much better and I highly recommend them.  The thinner ones were easier for the paint to sneak up under.  little sneaksters).
BAR_5306
Then, I painted them and took the stickers off.  I know.  I am amazing.  That was so complicated. I am not sure if y'all can master it.  But I think you should at least try.
BAR_5310
BAR_5308
I was actually going to just keep them because of their said ghettoness, but then Isla had blocks out when I visited her last week and Jenn said she loves them, so I thought I would send them with tons of warning of their inability to come out and play when other people are over (and if they happen to be out, maybe lie and say a sick cousin made them and you feel like you have to keep them out of guilt?).
So, make yours cuter and don't buy this color gold.  Go with one more, I don't know, golden.
BAR_5316
and not so close to the colors of the blocks.
bummer.
BAR_5317
maybe a brighter color next time?
luckily that is not her only present.  more on that later. and sassy cut her own hair into a mullet.  more on that too..

Camping

IMG_1559
Are you guys still having trouble lifting your jaws off of the floor from ella's party??? I think its my favorite party of hers so far-which is so hard because all of her parties are outstanding.  I just cant get enough of it! I keep looking at every pic of everything! I just love everything!
This past week for spring break we kind of hob nobbed all over the place and never really had a plan to do just one thing.  It ended up being one of my favorite spring breaks ever.  We went "camping" in Jeff's parents lake house's yard one night, went to meet ella for her bday, ate dinner with my fam, spent a day with jennifer and isla and celebrated everyone matching with their residencies one night.  oh and went to katelyn's first birthday, which was also incredible.  It was just the best week.
IMG_1579
Y'all know my feelings on camping.
I love it.  Did it with my youth group (not to be confused with my family-my dad's idea of camping is a motel) and want to do it with my new family.  When people talk about how they go camping I light up and want to get into the conversation so bad and smile real big and then have nothing to offer because we have yet to officially go.  I know I don't need to be caught up about the fact that my kids are young, but I just get kind of nervous that no sleeping will ever happen and we will die of sleep deprivation by the second day.
Luckily, we only camped for one night at the lake so we lived to tell about it.
and, actually everyone slept.
and it was a blast!
I feel like we are maybe ready to not camp directly next to a house with running water and a warm place to sleep if we need it, soon.
Jeff got a tent when he was in college and it is fantastic.  It has like 5 "rooms" that the kids love to mess with.  Avery never took her divider down the whole night- she did not want to share her space with us pions.

We cooked some catfish the second day so everyone could try it.
Ben kept saying "i love this catfish" and maybe cried when he had to wait for it to be fully cooked...
