now what?

Kristen and I in our obvious prime years.DSC_0304
My best friend Kristen is moving. To Tyler. Which is too far from Lubbock for me to call her up and say, do you want to meet me at Target? Do you want to go to Hobby Lobby, then Chick-fil-a for lunch? Wanna go to the mall and let the kids play? I have known that this time was coming when Jeff would find out where they move to next. I know that she is leaving at the end of May whether I like it or not.
I’m a procrastinator. I put things off till the very last minute. I was the student who would pull all nighters before a project was due that we had been given weeks in advance. I procrastinate with paying bills (drives Bob crazy), doing laundry (also drives Bob crazy), house work and even washing my hair. I just put things off till they absolutely have to been done. Sometimes I just seem to work better this way and sometimes I drive myself as crazy as I make Bob. I’m in major procrastination mode with Kristen moving. I just want to pretend like its not going to happen till it really does.
Kristen is the friend that can finish my sentences. She knows what I’m thinking when I don’t even know how to say it. She is my favorite person to bounce ideas back and forth with cause we usually have the same vision. People mistake us for sisters all the time, even the mailman stopped me the other day to ask if I was related to the girl two streets over. Our lives are so much the same here in Lubbock. We could switch places for the day and never have to ask a question about how something is done. I know her everyday routine and kids schedule as well as I know my own. I will miss this.
There are very few differences between us, but I love these little things that make us unique: things that make Kristen so dear to me. Kristen isn’t lazy like me. She’s a doer, I’m a thinker. Unlike me, she prefers diet coke, salt and peppers (super peppers actually) her food, works out, washes the dishes after each meal, reads books, doesn’t like ketchup, hates beef stew, erases a tivo-ed show immediately after she watches it, and bakes the best chocolate chip cookies. I love these things about Kristen. They are perfect “differences” among best friends.
So this makes me hate it all the more that we are about to have one big new difference. Different cities! I hate that our houses will go from being 500 yards apart to 500 miles.
These last 3 years will always be some of the best days of my life and I am so grateful for them. I don’t even know how to talk about Avery, Ben and Sawyer. It has been the dream life living down the street from my best friend raising our kids together. I love them as if they were my own kids and I am going to miss them so much. Ella is going to miss them so much. Avery was Ella’s first friend and they have such a special friendship. Ella just thinks the world of Avery. She will be so sad when she realizes that her 3 little besties have moved.
Please don’t get me wrong, I love my life in Lubbock. I have so many wonderful friends here that I just love dearly. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else right now. Life is good and I am excited about being in Lubbock for another year. I know that it will get lonely at times and definitely won't be the same without Kristen and her sweet family but I know that God will bless our time here and Kristen's time in Tyler.
So…the big question is “now what?” Now that Kristen is moving, what do we do with lullabylubbock? Do we keep it going and have posts from Lubbock and Tyler? Do we just make this a blog for our cheesy crafts and start separate blogs for our families? Or do we come to the fact that all good things come to an end and say goodbye to lullabylubbock? We have gone through lots of options and we need some help. This blog has been so fun for Kristen and I to do together. It has been such a wonderful way for us to document the things that we do and make while living in Lubbock together and we have absolutely loved sharing it with you. So if anyone is even still reading this marathon of a post and has an opinion or idea, please let us know!

I am so sorry to hear that. You don't even know me and I don't know you but I could see that you 2 have something special. I just moved too, to another city where I don't have any friends and left everything behind:(. It's very sad to see your friend go, but please, try to keep this blog, it will be something to hold you together whether you are here and she is there. Plus us readers will be happy about that too:). Cheers to your new life, remember, something beautiful ends and something beautiful starts!

I love both of yall and I will miss when I come to Lubbock not being able to see Kristen and her sweet family :( And talking to Kristen about what we want to do with our hair next since we never can be satisfied with the color or style of our hair. Love you Kristen (:

I found your blog through somebody else's blog and love it. In fact I hope this doesn't freak Kristin out, but I saw her in the Abilene wal- mart a couple days ago and almost said "Hi" then realized she wouldn't know who I was!
I enjoy ya'lls blog a lot and hope ya'll keep it!

I am always tempted to comment and really wanted to fill out the survey you guys posted a while back but decided that might be odd since we have never met haha. I am admittedly a stalker of your blog and tell all my friends and my boyfriend,Jeff, about it all the time. It has now become a joke and Jeff will even say what they had a party and didnt invite you haha. I am great friends with Mendy and Alex so when Mendy told me about Lindsay's blog I stumbled apon you girls blog. I have read it every since! I was glad to see that others love it as much as I do and I can now tell my friends and Jeff there is no need for a "lullaby lubbock blog intervention" lol. Enjoy your time left in Lubbock together! I really hope you keep the blog!

A little late on this comment...but DO NOT STOP THIS BLOG! I love reading both of your takes on life, creativity, etc. and, of course, love seeing pictures of your sweet kiddos. But whatever y'all decide, I'll follow y'all...please read that in the least stalkerish way possible. :)

Do NOT stop - let it spread to Tyler and beyond! And just think of the reunion parties you can plan for and capture on your blog! An Allison, ANY trip to Hobby Lobby, count me in!!! (not to mention chikfila)

Kristin, I only know you a little bit through Jan - and Allison, I've never met you. But I feel like I know you both (and your families) so well. I would really miss checking up on what projects you're up to! Jan and I had so many fun years together when our kids were little. If only we could have "blogged" it all - we'd still be able to look back on all those memories today. Now - the only memories we have are the ones our aging minds will recall. Just think how fun it'll be to look back on your escapades when you're 50! And how fun it'll be for your KIDS to look back on it all. KEEP GOING! Maybe you could alter the name just a bit to include Tyler . . . ???
