So, as was expected, the 4th went down with the usual halbert flair and it was a total blast, just like every year before.
It was really just so so much fun.
There was some crazy face/body paint, DJ's who had to DJ inside bc of torrential rain, a little insanity in the morning, a little bull riding, some boating, tubing, tons and tons of swimming, a little cranberry vodka and a lot of fun.
This is what mother daughter insanity looks like. pun intended.
We took some of the kids on the boat and it was definitely more fun for some than others.
Sassy, Ella and Aves went together and really laughed the whole time.
Then, bob took ella and Kenna and they loved it too!!
Since we went to the lake the weekend after all the fireworks and celebrating, we had to come up with our own little "square". I made friendship bracelets and al brought the shorts and some face paint.
And, I feel like it goes without saying that we enjoyed the face paint.
Allison, jeff and ben were true artists.
The girls wanted the full face butterflies. Allison didn't even show an ounce of fear and jumped right in.
I really don't think I have seen 4 prettier butterflies.
Jeff did our flags and they were so realistic! Flowing in the wind and everything.
Then sawyer asked jeff for gracie on her chest.
And he did it so well!!! It looks just like her!
Who doesn't want a painting of their dog on their chest???
Ben drew a few more things on the kids and they loved every minute of it.
Its hard to say if she is in support of Chile or Texas, but either way she was proud.
Then jeff and ben went rouge and did their own body art on each other.
I mean, no words.
We clearly got pretty excited our face paint.
There were 7 swimming, crawling, and running crazy kids between all of us.
Luckily, we had a lot of help.
As always, there was a lot of eating.
and drinking.
and dancing.
Some in heels,
some upside down,
there was a little air guitar,
and, even though it had to be inside due to weather where some kids were sleeping and some were dancing, it was a blast.
Everyone (that was brave enough) took their turn on the bull.
I really can't say if anyone made it the whole 8 seconds.
Some just brought their own animals.
It was a Fantastic 4th of July, as always.
Thanks mom and dad for having us, hosting us and giving us our favorite weekend to look forward to every year!
