scrubbing day and a little trim

Any Pippi Longstocking fans out there?!
I don't know if anyone has noticed but Ella has been on a two braids phase for quite some time now. 9 times out of 10 that is how she wants her hair fixed. Months ago when we were walking around Hastings she saw the movie Pippi Longstocking. It stood out to her because of the two braids. I remember loving the Pippi Longstocking movie when I was a kid so I was excited to buy it for her. She of course fell in love with it and it grew her two braid obsession just a little bit more.
The other day I needed (still need) to clean my house. It needs a good deep clean. Entertaining two kids and getting house work done isn't always the easiest so I was trying to think of a way to involve Ella. Thats when the song Scrubbing Day starting playing in my head. When I asked Ella if she wanted to have scrubbing day with me in the kitchen she was thrilled. She held her braids out straight and said "like Pippi Longstocking?!" Yes, like Pippi Longstocking. So we filled up a bucket with soapy water and got two brushes for her feet. Ella had so much fun walking on the brushes and singing "scrubbing day is my favorite day, cause on scrubbing day we make everything get wet."

After about 5 minutes of scrubbing Ella was ready to get into full Pippi Longstocking character and throw bubbles everywhere. Then she slipped and fell. Pippi made it look so easy. So scrubbing day was then taken in the backyard which then turned into a run around in the water hose afternoon. So much for deep cleaning.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! Bob finally finished his ETS rotation last week so it has been a nice change to actually see him in the day light. Last month was rough. He worked ALL the time. He had gone 21 days straight without a day off so when he finally got a break one of the first things he did was call for a haircut appointment. He misses getting to spend time with the girls so much so he took Ella with him when he got his hair cut. She got a little trim too. What a fun last minute daddy-dauther date!
