heart breaker valentines

Ella and I made valentines today for her school party and they turned out so cute. I got the idea from Dana over at her fabulous blog.

Dana made it so easy to copy her cute valentines. She had a PDF file that I printed onto colored paper and then cut out.

Then I sewed the hearts together leaving an opening to fill with candy.

After you finish filling them with candy, sew the opening closed and your done. So easy and so fun! Ella knows what is inside each one but still gets so surprised and excited when she tears them open. She can't wait to pass them out to her friends at school!

snow days...

Sorry I have been so behind on blogging, don't give up one me. I'm gettin this two kid thing down and will be back in the swing of things in no time!
McKenna is 5 weeks old today. I still look like feel like I just had her yesterday. I only have one more week of "recovery time" and then I am given the ok to do everything I was doing before. I feel like 6 weeks of recovery time for a c-section is a little much. I felt healed weeks ago and if it wasn't for my rule following husband I would have been in the gym long before now. (who are we kidding, that sentence is such a lie) I'm a huge rule follower as well and the gym might be one of the last places you would find me. But for real, next week I will be there. Zumba, here I come!
My cabin fever hit a new level last week. Three snow days in a row was crazy! Fun, but crazy.

Ella had so much fun playing in the snow and being stuck in the house with everyone for three days. Pretty sure she would have lost it day four though. Hope everyone else got to enjoy some good snow days too! (big thanks to Brittany for taking these pics!)
I will be back tomorrow with some super cute Valentines that Ella and I made for her class.

Top of the week to yall.

I know, I know- two posts a week for the last few weeks?? how can we even call ourselves a blog...we had kind of a long week last week with sick kids but for the weekend, Lindsay  and I were flown up by our college roomate, Lindsay's (I know, two lindsays) husband Adam to surprise her for her birthday!  It was so much fun and to catch up and see each other.  It was just like we had seen each other yesterday.  We did a whole lot of sit on the couch and talk and eat.  a lot.  and then the superbowl! how fun was that?! I have heard mixed reviews about the halftime show, but I was thoroughly impressed.
Then we rushed home and had a fun valentines party with our playdate peeps this mornin'.
So, in honor of having zero pics from all of the above, here is my list of stuff I am loving from the www.

I want to make this right now.

I love this new, to me, baking blog.  Joy is so cute!

I am on the lookout for a coat rack since it has been so cold here lately!! This one is kinda cute (and modern), this one is also modern but cute.  this is so hard!  what do you guys from the north do with your coats and boots and all your cold weather accessories???

This tea party is SO cute!!

How awesome are these valentines ideas?!?!

And I love the ballet bag!  Not that we do ballet, or that I am that good mom who signs their kids up for stuff.  well,  I take that back- I just signed avery up for spring soccer (when everyone has probably been playing since they were three...) but, we are so excited!! I am officially a soccer mom.  hello world.

I love this bath mat, too.

oh, and this clock is so cute!

and, side note, five years ago today, after a little bleeding scare, we ran to the hospital where my husband ordered pizza (and I wished that I could eat), we watched Las Vegas and I hoped, in between contractions, that I would connect with this little baby that was about to come into our lives.  I had no idea what to expect and was not too into the whole pregnancy thing too much.  I had read very few books (maybe none, whatever), had taken zero classes and was two and a half weeks before my due date...And we didn't know if it was a boy or a girl, so we had really no idea what to expect at all.  We called everyone we knew and they jumped on planes, in cars and really supported us faster than we could ever have hoped for.
And then all of a sudden (well, not really, it seemed like an eternity of pushing and crying and drugs not working, but anyway) they said "it's a girl!"  Now, Avery frequently asks to see the picture of when she first came out and I am crying because I am so happy.  Truly the second very best moment of my life.  I have never been so happy, connected or excited in one moment.  And, now she has turned into the most beautiful, kind, sweet and stubborn person I know.

Happy Birthday Avery Kathryn.  You are truly the light of my life and never knew what it meant to love like this until I met you.  You have forever changed my life. I love you more than I can ever tell you.  And I can NOT believe you are five years old!!! ahhhhh!

Avery's Royal Partay Invites

Avery wants a princess party.  I know.  I feel like I have been trying to avoid this party for years. I want to make it a little cuter and have crown shirts and matching tutus, but she wants a typical princess party with princess dresses and all.  (I clearly have nothing against a princess party, I just think they can sometimes be so, whats the word? tacky.  or cheesy. and I am all for cheesy, I dont know...) So, I guess, it is her birthday.  I am ready for it.  I am going to try to keep it as calm as possible, but, who knows.  Hot pink and fuscia could creep in at any time.  My control over this party is really so limited.

I started off with these invites that Celeste and I created.  She found all of the cute fonts and I just love her wording.
Then I ran around everywhere looking for tubes to send them in so that they could roll up in the tubes.  I could not find tubes anywhere but, with aly's help, we found uline online and it was a dream come true.  Tubes everywhere. I even ordered some that came the next day!! (they happened to be the wrong size, whatever, but then I found the gold ones and I think they are perfect!)

I wanted to seal the invitations with wax and even found a wax stamp and some wax to do it, but I just could not get it to look good.  I also thought about the sticks that are on each end of scrolls, but I just couldnt figure out how to make that work.  Celeste found some cute wooden pieces at michaels, but I ended up just trying to get them out as fast as I could because I am so behind.  So, the moral here is if you do this, make the seal work and use the sticks.  It will be so much cuter.
Then I labeled them with "Princess Georgia" or "Prince Elliot" and sent them out.

And clearly I was not very good at wrapping the label with tape...

Hello Tuesday!

Clearly Fridays are forever at lullaby lubbock- sorry guys.  I hope everyone had a great weekend!  We went to see Eisley in concert and played around with our neighbors.  Eisley was amazing and we had a fantastic time. It is really so so fun to have a great community of neighbors who are creative, fun, inspiring and make us feel at home.  On Saturday, we had some family time and then on Sunday Jeff worked and I kept us busy with like 500 errands that probably should not be done with three kids.
I have some stuff to share that I am making for Avery's royal party coming up, but today was pretty hectic and we ended up being at the Dr for five hours...

This is us (minus aves who is across the room) after two RSV diagnoses es, one pneumonia, one shot, three breathing treatments and an x ray but without lunch, naps or meds...
Luckily we are home now and hopefully they will start to get well.
Try not be too jealous of us.
