Fun Facts to Know and Tell at Parties

IMG_3685
So, for our first trick- harvest corn pops into popcorn!
Isnt that so exciting!?
I got it at a pumpkin patch and the lady who sold it to me told me to get the little ones (because they work best) and just wet the dry husk a little, put it in the microwave and watch it go.  It was the funnest thing.  Sassy and I could not get over it.  (we like cheap thrills, obvi)
glow-in-the-dark-paint
Our second trick did not go quite as planned.
I got martha stewart glow in the dark paint and it did not work.
I dont know if we applied enough of it, but when I went running in the dark the next morning I couldnt see even a hint of glow.
I dont know if they were made to paint pumpkins, that could be the problem, but I may try a few more coats and get back to yall.
cops-and-robbers
And, this isnt exactly a trick, but when my in laws were here they took the cutest pics of the kids dressing up and playing around the yard.  I dont know what they were doing but I want to imagine cops and robbers and lots of crazy hideouts.
So, if you have any hints on the glow in the dark paint- send them my way! I want that to work so bad! And go buy some harvest corn and let the popcorn fly.  Yall have a great weekend.

Let the fashion show begin!

Fashion shows are a very regular thing around our house.
It starts off with Ella and McKenna putting on all kinds of crazy and creative outfits. I am never aloud to see this part. Ella will tell me to put some loud music on and close my eyes. She doesn't ever want me to get a sneak peak until she is ready to show me her outfit. Sometimes she will even put her bathrobe over just to make sure. Once they begin their walk down the hallway, I am told to open my eyes and the bouncing around and twirling begins. This usually turns into a fun family dance party and is then repeated with multiple outfit changes.
It has become one of my favorite family traditions and I love seeing how much fun the girls have with it.
I decided to spice up the fashion show with their very own curtain to walk through. It was super easy to make and has been a HUGE hit!
I bought two curtain rods. One thick shower curtain rod and one skinny curtain rod. I bought two red panels of curtains for the main red part and bought 3 yards of the shiniest most sparkly fabric walmart had. I folded the fabric in half and sewed the top together so it could hang on the rod.

It fits perfect in our hallway and the girls LOVE walking through it!

Sometimes I join in on the fun. Prom dress 1999 and all.

Or bridesmaid dress from Kristen's wedding. That is always Ella's pick for me.

I even bust out some crazy garage sale finds I have stored away. I'm always ready for a theme party of any decade.

Even Bob joined in. That Christmas vest is sure to come back in style.

I'll let ya know when Ella comes out with her new fall fashion line:)

Our Party Pants have been ON

We have just been partying.
September is full of birthdays (happy birthday al!!!!!!! Is that heat press machine to die for, or what??!!) and we partied for as many as we possibly could.  My mom and youngest brothers is on the 13th, which is now Lily's birthday too.  Ty is on the 14th (and we had a ball!), my middle brother is the 21st and Al is the 23rd.  (So many others are squeezed in there, but that was all we had time for this year.)
First was Ty's on friday night and it was amazing.  Lindsay is just so amazing at details and everything she does is absolutely perfect.  It was the perfect party for Ty and you could see how much fun he had every second.  Ty was just perfect, like always, and the kids could not have had more fun playing together.

After "the ball" the kids calmed down with a little late night reading.

The next morning we woke up and drove to temple to hang out with Julie and get ready for lily's party on sunday.
IMG_3582
Poor Julie got so sick so we took the kids out for dinner and to play at the park.
IMG_3583
(at dinner brooke and I looked exactly like the lesbian couple who could not keep their kids in check.  They were running everywhere and everyone was giving us the one eye about keeping our kids under control.  Little did they know we thought that was under control...)
We ended up finding a splash park so they kids ran around and got soppin wet in their clothes.

Pretty perfect sat night.

Like the machine that Julie is, she pushed through and had the cutest party ever.
This girl was just cute as a button!!

I wish I had pics of everything because it was just the cutest party and Julie made every. single. thing.
Incredible.

Luckily there were some really skilled hulla hoopers and face painters there.

Of course I dont have any pics of Julie, brooke and I, or ashley and her sweet kids, but being there with everyone just made me feel like it was my party.  I love having all my friends be friends with each other and getting to see them all at the same time.  I love that the kids are all friends SO MUCH.  It really is just so fantastic that they all live in the same place!
This weekend I got to celebrate my brother's and mom's bdays.
I used this tutorial and made them all mugs (that I heard will prob wash off, but its the thought that counts, right...)

I stuffed them with homemade cheesy shirts and gift cards.

I dont have very many pics of the actual weekend, but it was amazing (I'll post pics after I get them from everyone).
I probably should give my party pants a rest after all of that...

scarf swap 2012

Sweet Meredith does a scarf swap on her blog each year. Last year was my first time to participate and I loved it.
This year my partner was Melissa.  She is so sweet and has the cutest little family. I love meeting a new blog friend. We exchanged a few emails about our favorite colors to try and get an idea of each others scarf taste. She told me she liked turquoise, coral and basic colors. I told her I liked all shades of blue and basic colors.
I don't live with many shopping options so I ordered Melissa's scarf online. I received the scarf she sent me the same day the one I ordered for her arrived in the mail. I was cracking up when I opened them up. They were very similar patterns but different colors.

Great minds must think alike.
I love my new scarf Melissa! Thank you so much! I can't wait for it to cool down a bit so I can wear it.

Thank so much Meredith for hosting the fun scarf swap again!

Birthday weekend!

I'm 31 y'all.
Can you believe it? I can, and then sometimes can't. 30 was fun but 31 just sounds odd. Maybe its because it is an odd number in itself. I don't know. It just feels weird to say I am 31 years old. I think I'll like 32 better. That was always my best friends pager code number (remember pagers? the pre-cell phone days) in high school so it's always stuck with me. Weird example - every time I turn the radio up and the volume is on 30 I go a little higher to 32 just because its a good memory of a number. Am I crazy or do you guys have emotional relationships with numbers? Anyways, all this to say. I don't feel strongly connected to 31 yet. Maybe I'll get there soon. At least I have a year to think about it.
My birthday weekend was so fun! My family came in town on Friday and stayed with the kids Saturday night, while Bob and I spent a night in Austin. It was so so nice celebrating with everyone and then getting some kid free time with just Bob. It's always nice to sit down for dinner and not worry about anything or have to get up a million times.
My mom brought a fabulous cake from Legacy Cakes in Grapevine, TX. They are the same girls who did McKenna's Busy Bee cake and Ella's ice cream cake. Yellow cake with chocolate icing is my favorite and daisies are my favorite flower. It was perfect.

I was so surprised with a very exciting gift from my parents! My very own heat press machine! Ahhhh! How cool is that?!
IMG_6116IMG_6119
I'm not exactly sure how to work it yet but I can't wait to learn how! Hopefully we will have lots of fun shirts in our etsy store soon!
This is the only picture I have from Bob and I's trip to Austin. We were "those" people who go in Brookstone just to sit in the $4300 massage chairs. They were amazing.

The only bummer about Bob and I going out of town this weekend was that we missed Ella's first soccer game. It wasn't supposed to be her first game. We wouldn't have planned it on her very first game but the first two got canceled because of rain so her third game actually ended up being the first. My parents kept us updated with live texts so we felt like we didn't miss a beat. This was the first text I got. They told me Ella scored the firsts goal!
DSC_0443
And very soon after I got a Just Kidding text. It was just warmup before the game:)

My mom called me laughing so hard at one point. She said that Ella actually made her way to another field and was playing with another team! Love that kid! She was pretty worn out by the first quarter and kept asking my parents if she was done yet. Ha! They said McKenna did awesome and enjoyed watching big sister play.

Look at Ella taking on 3 boys!
DSC_0590
The score was 24 to 1. Ella's team lost.
Pretty sure Ella's favorite part was the snacks they got after the game. When I talked to her on the phone that was all she talked about. "We got cookies and juice mom! Cookies and juice!" Good thing snacks are at every game.
Thank you to everyone who made my birthday weekend so wonderful! All the birthday wishes on facebook, texts, calls, packages, birthday rap videos via email and cards really made my day! Love you all!
