Ella needed a turkey shirt for Thanksgiving and since I don't own a sewing machine (yet!) I went with the hand printed turkey. Hopefully after Christmas I will have a sewing machine and Kristen will teach me her mad turkey making skills for next year! I can't wait!
Used fabric paint to make Ella's hand print on front and wrote "I'm thankful for..." with fabric markers
then on the back I listed some things Ella is thankful for this Thanksgiving.
so, this weekend jeff, brycie and i made up things to do everyday until christmas (well, 18 days so far) and i made this advent calendar so we could stuff it with our ideas. i havent stuffed it with all the goodies yet in this one...
and here it is with a few goodies from the target dollar isle... we are so excited for december!!
on a more thanksgivingish note, the babies were so sad to see brycie go home for thanksgiving!
bye brycie!! we love you!!
and i finished ben's addition to the turkey thanksgiving shirts and just made him a pilgrims hat
We are always looking for new crafty projects to do so when we found a place in Lubbock that offered a screen printing class, it soon became our latest obsession. So last night at the Garden & Arts Center, Kristen and I learned the steps for screen printing on fabric. Our fabric of choice was of course a good ole' walmart v-neck t-shirts and you know we made matching ones for the whole fam. The first step was deciding what we wanted to screen print on the shirt. Once we knew what we wanted a snowman and flower we had to cut them into stencils on freezer paper. We free handed the snowman and traced a flower image from the computer. We didn't get any pics of the stencils but here are some pics of everything else. Hope you enjoy.
We used royal blue and teal "Rit" dye to color the shirts.
Getting the shirt ready to go under the screen
Pouring the paint
Charging the screen
Printing the stencil on the shirt
Our snowman shirts
Our flower shirt
After the shirts dry you heat press them before washing.
Then we added some buttons for the finishing touch
Ta-Da! All the kids modeling their new shirt
This was just so much fun and we ordered our own screen the second we got home last night! So this is only the beginning of many more homemade screen printed shirts to come!
brycie decided to needed a hair change before her big-life-moving-and-starting-nursing-school-change and before she could chicken out she found herself in the chair of a hair lady she had never met and took the giant plunge to
short hair!! and it soooo cute!! just looove it!
and blaine joined in, deciding it was better for her to change colors than cuts and
went dark!! aren't they both so cute! i love a hair change (as you know if you know me at all...at home perms, self dye and highlight jobs, jeff cuts it, new bangs, etc...) way to go different ladies!! i just may have to dye mine...
jeff and aves were matching bakers/decorators tonight and they had so much fun. they decorated dinosaur rice krispie treats and they got to eat a few bites of their finished project. aves was so excited and beside herself that she got to decorate and eat them!!
the finished project!
she was so proud. (sassarina's here we come!! now i have to get jeff and aves as head bakers when i create my bakery someday...)

My family is in town for the weekend and we have had so much fun with them. Last night we all rode the Polar Express to the North Pole! We took a 2 hour train ride around Lubbock, had cookies and hot chocolate, danced and sang with the elves and saw Santa! Ella loved it!
All aboard the Polar Express!

Bob is very excited about it too!

And of course I loved every minute of it!
Waiting for Santa
Looks like Ella wants nothing to do with Santa but she really did love him. She said "Ho, Ho, Ho" all night.
